Located on the sheltered and popular Codville Lagoon on King Island in Fitz Hugh Sound, Codville Lagoon Marine Provincial Park offers one of the most scenic anchorages on the Inside Passage. The narrow entrance off Fisher Channel, 5.5 miles (9 km) north of Namu, is easy to find and accessible to boats only.
The 589-hectare Codville Lagoon Marine Provincial Park encompasses the saltwater Codville Lagoon, which offers opportunities for diving and wildlife viewing. Seals frequently haul out on the rocks off the south end of the island that mirrors the lagoon's ragged shape.
In the mid 60s, this bay was a boating destination for residents of Ocean Falls. A swimming float was anchored in the bay, and a trail was built to the magnificent red sand beach at Sagar Lake Provincial Park. The lake is icy cold, but days of continuous sun quickly warm the shallow waters enough for a pleasant swim.
Wilderness, backcountry or walk-in camping is allowed, but no facilities are provided. There is a long sandy beach on Sagar Lake that is ideal for camping on. The park is a significant aboriginal heritage site that should be respected.
Codville Lagoon Marine Provincial Park is located on King Island in Fitz Hugh Sound, 50 miles (80 km) west of Bella Coola on the Discovery Coast of British Columbia.
