| Big Bam Ski Hill is a volunteer-run
community ski hill located on the south side of the community of Taylor in Northern
British Columbia, near the city of Fort St. John.
Big Bam Ski Hill was operational until 1997, when a landslide destroyed many of
the facilities, including the T-Bar and bunny tow.
Volunteers worked vigorously throughout the summer of 2009 to re-open part of
the hill to be ready for skiing and snowboarding during the 2009/2010 winter season.
A new tow-lift was installed that is capable of moving over 400 people per hour
up the 750-ft tow line to an elevation of 180 feet. Big
Bam Ski Hill is located approximately 4km west of the Alaska Highway 97 near Taylor,
approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of Fort St. John in Northern BC. Directions:
Down Big Bam Road (south of Taylor Peace River Bridge, passed Peace Island Park). |
